| Description |
Informatics was founded in Woodland Hills, CA in 1962 as a software contracting firm but expanded into software products after acquiring Advanced Information Systems (AIS) from Hughes Dynamics in 1964. AIS, under the leadership of John A. Postley, had developed a file management system run on IBM 701s, 704s and 709s for Douglas Aircraft which was converted to run on the IBM 1401 and renamed Mark I. This became the precursor to Informatics' product Mark IV which was the first software product to have cumulative sales of $10 million and then $100 million. |
